Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA)
IFPRI leads the policy research component of the Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA), a regional effort designed to raise agricultural productivity and enhance farmers’ incomes. Between 2010 and 2015, more than one million farmers in Bangladesh benefited from higher yields because of stress-tolerant rice varieties distributed by CSISA.
Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index: Bangladesh
WEAI is a first-of-its-kind tool measuring the roles and extent of women’s empowerment in agriculture relative to men within their households, particularly women’s control over critical parts of their lives. It also helps in identifying the women who are disempowered and what areas they are disempowered in, information that is instrumental in designing solutions to close the empowerment gap.
ReSAKSS: 10 Years of Promoting Evidence-Based Policy Planning and Implementation under CAADP
Ten years after its establishment, the IFPRI-facilitated ReSAKSS in Africa serves as a vital support to the implementation of CAADP. On October 18-20, 2016, the 2016 ReSAKSS Annual Conference will be held in Accra, Ghana to review and discuss the CAADP implementation.
Open-Access Data: A Key to Sound Agricultural Policies and Investments
On September 15-16, 2016, the Global Open Data for Agriculture & Nutrition (GODAN) Summit will be held in New York. At the summit, IFPRI will be co-hosting a side-event called Precision Agriculture. IFPRI has been at the forefront of providing open-access data to improve policies.
WEAI: Making Development Programs Inclusive
Since its launch in 2012, WEAI has been revolutionizing how women’s empowerment and role in agriculture are seen and measured. WEAI also proved to be very valuable to other organizations’ monitoring and evaluation efforts.
